About Us

Our Mission

Dedicated to forest restoration and promoting sustainable forest management in Central Mexico to benefit the people and other creatures who depend on the forests, as well as to assure a healthy planet for future generations.

Who We Are

We are a small group of Americans who love nature and Mexico. We each have several to many years of experience working with the Forests for Monarchs project and are motivated by a desire to restore a healthy environment to the beautiful mountains of Michoacan, Mexico. Our goal is to restore the environment for overwintering monarchs and other wildlife, as well as for the people who live there. While we have each come to the project by distinct pathways, we are each passionate about our work with our Mexican Partner, Jose Luis Alvarez, who founded La Cruz Habitat Protection Project – Mexico. Our collaborative efforts have resulted in one of the best and most successful reforestation projects of its kind. We are proud that our work is making a difference around the monarch butterfly overwintering sites and more recently on the highland lake watersheds.
